Awareness

I’m really sick of hearing about John and Elizabeth Edwards and their cancer and Tony Snow from the white house who’s getting a suspicious lump removed. I can’t turn on the radio, TV or Internet with out being “educated” or gifted with “awareness.”

I’m T-H-I-S close to going into a panic over breast & prostate cancer.

I don’t have a prostate!

Keep your F*%ING awareness!

I'll second that!

But I'll take a panic attack caused by Edwards and Snow, over the non-stop Anna Nicole coverage and her naked photos, any day of the week!

It's true; you turn on the TV for a little escapism, and it just gives you more anxiety material. Stop already! I have pretty much stopped watching the news for that reason--and definitely stopped the pharm commercials. I feel really dumb & uninformed a lot of the time, but it's a lot more peaceful.

Leila,
Humm, I guess I don't find the Anna Nicole thing quite as frightening. I mean, if I had a fever of 105, stomach flu and an infection all over my ass, you COULDN'T keep me away from the hospital!

Trish,
Yeah, I know what you mean. Television news is more than I can handle. One day, several weeks ago, the local news had the teaser "Cancer Cluster By Local College." I had to wait an hour (heart pounding) to discover it was more than 200 miles away from here.
